Roofing
Asphalt Shingle Roofing
Architectural asphalt shingles are still the right choice for a lot of New England homes, and we install them the way the manufacturer intended, not the way that gets the crew off the job by Thursday.
We work with GAF and CertainTeed systems. That means proper ice and water shield coverage at the eaves and valleys, correct nailing pattern and placement, starter strip at the rakes as well as the eaves, and full ridge ventilation. Most of the shingle roofs we are called out to repair failed because of one of those four things, not because of the shingle.
We handle
- Full replacement
- New construction
- Partial re-roofs
- Storm damage
- Repairs
- Typical lifespan
- 20 to 30 years in our climate
- Workmanship warranty
- 5 years

Roofing
Copper Roofing & Metalwork
Copper is the material we most enjoy working with, and the one that separates a metal roofer from a metal installer. It has to be fabricated by hand, it moves, it stains anything below it if you flash it wrong, and it lasts a century when you get it right.
Copper needs no paint and no coating. It weathers from bright penny to bronze to a green patina over decades, and it never corrodes through.
We handle
- Copper standing seam roofs
- Bay window and porch roofs
- Dormers and valleys
- Chimney flashing and crickets
- Gutters and downspouts
- Accents on shingle roofs
- Lifespan
- 100+ years
- Warranty
- Lifetime material, 25-year workmanship

Roofing
Cedar Shingle & Shake Roofing
Cedar is a traditional New England roof and it is disappearing, mostly because fewer crews know how to install it. We still do.
Proper cedar work means correct exposure, spacing that allows the wood to swell and breathe, stainless fasteners, and a ventilated underlayment so the underside of the shingle can dry. Cedar installed like asphalt rots from the back within a decade.
We handle
- Cedar shingles
- Hand-split shakes
- Repairs
- Historic homes and historic district projects

Roofing
Rubber (EPDM) Flat Roofing
Low-slope roofs need a membrane, not shingles. We install EPDM rubber on flat and low-pitch roofs, porch roofs, dormer tops, additions, garages, and commercial buildings.
EPDM goes down in large seamless sheets, which means far fewer joints for water to find. We detail all edges, drains, and penetrations, and we tie the membrane properly into the adjacent roof system, which is where most flat roofs actually fail.
We handle
- New membrane installation
- Tear-off and replacement
- Leak repair
- Recover work

Seamless Gutters
We form seamless gutters on site, cut to the exact length of each run. No joints in the middle of a run means no seams to separate and leak. Available in aluminum and copper.
Most gutter problems are not the gutter. They are undersized capacity, wrong pitch, too few downspouts, or downspouts dumping straight against the foundation. We size the system to your actual roof area and roof pitch, not to whatever was there before.
We handle
- Seamless aluminum gutters
- Copper gutters and downspouts
- Gutter guards
- Downspout and drainage work
- Repair and replacement

Chimney Flashing
More roofs leak at the chimney than anywhere else. It is the hardest detail on most homes and the one most often rushed.
We do it properly: step flashing woven into the courses, counter-flashing cut into the mortar joint rather than surface-caulked, and a cricket on the up-slope side of any chimney wide enough to need one. Copper where it makes sense.
If you have a stain on the ceiling near a chimney, this is almost certainly why.

Skylights
Skylight installation and replacement, curb-mounted and deck-mounted, including full flashing kit installation.
An old skylight is on borrowed time and it is far cheaper to replace it during a roof project than after the new roof is on. We will tell you honestly at the estimate whether yours has life left in it.
We handle
- New installation
- Replacement
- Re-flashing
- Leak repair

Roof details
Roof Repair & Leak Diagnosis
Not every roof needs replacing. We will tell you when a repair is the right call, and we will tell you honestly when it is money thrown at a roof that is finished.
We handle
- Leak diagnosis
- Storm and wind damage
- Missing or lifted shingles
- Flashing failures
- Valley repairs
- Emergency tarping
- Insurance claim documentation

Exterior
Siding
Siding and roofing fail for the same reasons: water and detailing. We install and repair vinyl, fiber cement, wood, and metal siding, along with trim, soffit, fascia, and house wrap.
Doing siding and roofing with the same company means the transitions between them are actually detailed, instead of two contractors each assuming the other handled it.
We handle
- Vinyl
- Fiber cement
- Wood
- Metal siding
- Trim, soffit and fascia
- House wrap

Exterior
Carpentry
Structural and finish carpentry connected to roof and exterior work: rafter and decking repair, rot repair, fascia and soffit replacement, trim, framing for dormers and additions, porch and deck work.
When we tear off a roof and find rotted decking or a compromised rafter, we can fix it ourselves the same day. We are not stopping your project to schedule another trade.

Exterior
Masonry
Chimney repair and rebuild, repointing, chimney caps and crowns, stone and brick work, and foundation repair.
Chimneys and roofs are the same problem from two sides. A deteriorating crown or open mortar joint puts water into your house no matter how good the flashing is.
We handle
- Chimney repair and rebuild
- Repointing
- Caps and crowns
- Stone and brick work
- Foundation repair

Seasonal
Roof Cleaning & Maintenance
Those black streaks on a shingle roof are algae, and the green on the north slope is moss. Moss holds moisture against the roof and lifts shingles from underneath. Left alone, it takes years off the roof.
We clean roofs using low-pressure methods appropriate to the material. Pressure washing a shingle roof strips the granules and destroys it. Anyone who offers to pressure wash your shingles should not be on your roof.
We handle
- Soft wash roof cleaning
- Moss and algae treatment
- Gutter cleaning
- Annual maintenance inspections

Seasonal
Snow & Ice Removal
New England winters put more load on a roof than most homeowners realize, and ice dams do their damage quietly, inside the walls.
Steaming is the correct method for ice dams. Chipping with hammers and chisels wrecks the roof, and salt tablets stain the shingles and corrode the gutters.
If you have water coming in during a thaw, call us. Do not wait for it to stop on its own.
We handle
- Roof snow removal
- Roof raking
- Ice dam steaming
- Emergency winter response
